Not Quite The End For Stamp Duty Relief…

Changes to the Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) rules and Multiple Dwellings relief - shaikhandcoaccountants

The stamp duty tax holiday, which was introduced last year by Chancellor Rishi Sunak to stimulate the property market during the pandemic, will end in its current form today [30 June 2021].

However, the chancellor has provided an extension with a reduced threshold of £250,000 until 30 September 2021 – down from £500,000.

This means that anyone completing on the sale of a main residence costing up to £250,000 will not pay any stamp duty.  Properties exceeding £250,000 are only taxed on the value exceeding that threshold.
